The Minister of the Department of Home Affairs has announced an important extension of the current expiry date for ZEP (Zimbabwean Exemption Permit) holders, a move aimed at providing much-needed relief to many individuals and families in the community. All ZEP visas, which were initially set to expire on 31 December 2021, are now officially extended and will be considered valid until 28 November 2025. This extension reflects the government’s commitment to offering support during these challenging times. Furthermore, under this new directive, any individual who holds a ZEP will not be required to produce a valid permit until the new expiry date, streamlining processes and alleviating some of the administrative burdens on ZEP holders while they navigate their long-term residency options.
This extension provides ZEP holders with additional time to apply for mainstream visas and waivers.
